
Henry R. Herrera, MD
Dr. Herrera joined Gastroenterology Consultants of South Texas (GCST) in October of 2020.
Dr. Herrera was born and raised in McAllen, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas Pan-American and a Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and fellowship training in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Texas A&M Scott and White Memorial Hospital.

In 2016, Dr. Herrera moved back to the Rio Grande Valley to join Renaissance Gastroenterology in Edinburg, TX. and was there for 4 years. He was a gastroenterology fellowship attending physician for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine from 2018-2020. He is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), the Texas Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy (TSGE) and the Texas Medical Association.
Dr. Herrera is fluent in both English and Spanish. He is available for consultation in both our Brownsville and Harlingen offices.
